Summer
The busiest time of year, dedicated to the meadows and the fields
Summer was the most labour-intensive season for the farmers of former times.
When the weather was fine, they spent most of the day outdoors, mowing the fields, grazing the cows or taking the cattle to the high pastures. Those who owned a forest cut and worked the wood, built houses and stables.
Opportunities to get together were less frequent. It was at religious festivals or when they were up on the mountain pastures. That's when the young people got closer, celebrating, dancing and singing into the night.
