Alta Badia
Gourmet Skisafari

From hut to hut on your skis to experience great taste, the Gourmet Skisafari has become a classic highlight that marks the beginning of Alta Badia’s culinary winter season. By reaching the participating mountain huts on skis, it is possible to savour the creations of award-winning chefs who have joined the project Skiing with Taste. Hence, in between one descent and the other, you can appreciate and indulge in the local culinary masterpieces of renowned starred chefs.

The star chefs of Alta Badia and of other top ski destinations present their own dishes paired with the best Alto Adige wines.

The Gourmet Skisafari celebrates the official start of the culinary winter season on the slopes, with a very special kind of ski safari. At a number of mountain huts, Michelin-starred chefs will be treating skiers to their delicious dishes, using top-quality products - a hallmark of our region. Skiers will have the chance to move from one mountain hut to another, trying each chef’s creations.

During the event photos or video footage may be taken for the purpose of documentation and promotion of the event and the region. The footage may be used and published on websites, on social networks and on media in compliance with the data protection regulations.

Good to know

Are there the same Italian chefs involved in the initiative year after year?

Chefs and dishes are both Italian and international, changing from season to season in order to treat you to a unique and ever-new experience of taste.

Can the menus be enjoyed throughout the entire winter season?

Of course! You only have to reach the alpine huts participating in the initiative “Skiing with Taste”. From the very first to the last day of the ski season, you can savour and enjoy the flavourful dishes of Alta Badia’s starred chefs.

What is the collaboration with the “La Miglior Vita Possibile” association about?

“Skiing with Taste” has always been tied to an important charity project. This year, a part of the amount that you’ll pay for the meal is being donated to the association “La Miglior Vita Possibile” (“The Best Possible Life”), which fosters paediatric palliative care. This donation will support the realisation of a new paediatric hospice in the Triveneto region.

What stands the Michelin Green Star for?

The Green Star honours cutting-edge restaurants committed to sustainability. These restaurants take responsibility for the ethical and environmental impact of their business and work closely with “sustainable” producers and suppliers to prevent unnecessary waste production as well as minimise or even eliminate plastic and other non-recyclable materials from their supply chain.

Which outdoor winter activities can be enjoyed in Alta Badia, besides skiing?

Alta Badia offers countless opportunities for snow enthusiasts, such as cross-country skiing, ski touring, winter hikes and snowshoeing, sledging, ice skating or even horse-drawn sleigh rides. And you can also reach the mountain huts on foot.

How can sustainable tourism be practised every day?

By minimising the utilisation of your car as much as possible, favouring public transport services such as buses and cable cars. In addition, there are rules of conduct to be observed by smart and kind tourists, such as avoiding leaving waste in the environment – especially plastic -, using your own water bottle, respecting others and avoiding endangering people.
