In the old days, farmsteads, “viles”, churches, bell towers and everything else that was needed for day-to-day life had to be crafted. Today, with the flourishing of tourism, the craftsman has turned into a small business. Construction sites, carpentries, blacksmiths, furniture manufacturers and weavers are the bedrock of a multitude of activities turning Val Badia into a fertile territory of inventiveness and entrepreneurial skills. Whereas the cold winter days once were used to engage in craft activities, modern-day Ladins carry on being creative each day of the year.
