Delicious Trail Dolomiti, when running becomes more enjoyable
Alta Badia - Cortina
Delicious Trail Dolomiti, when running becomes more enjoyable

The Delicious Trail Dolomiti features several itineraries. We recommend you to consider the moderate route - “One Step Beyond” - which starts in Alta Badia and reaches Cortina after 35 kilometres and a positive difference in altitude of 1,900 metres. This trail running event is one of a kind as it combines the magic of mountain running with delights for the palate. Set against the enchanting backdrop of the Dolomites, thousands of participants coming from twenty different countries challenge the world's most beautiful mountains, enjoying a refreshing break in the alpine huts located along the routes - each serving their very own culinary specialities.

The Dolomites Medium Delicious Trail is a foot race along the paths of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites, about 35 km with 1,900 metres of positive difference in altitude, starting from the centre of La Villa in front of the tourist office.

Maximum time: 9 hours.

From the centre of La Villa, the route follows for a stretch the Path of the Artists and leads to San Cassiano. There begins the ascent along the Altin ski run to the iconic Gran Risa and Piz La Villa, crosses the Armentarola area and the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park. From there, the path takes the runners up to Mt. Lagazuoi at an altitude of 2,778 m, followed by the descent to the finish line at Pocol, for a total of around 35 km and 1.900 metres of elevation gain: pure pleasure!

There are 4 wonderful refreshment points along the Alta Badia route, which have been set up by Team Delicious, where you can take a break and enjoy quality products and local specialities.

Seasonal vegetable minestrone

Polenta with wild game stew

Good to know

What’s the hallmark of the Medium Delicious Trail - One Step Beyond?

All along the route, runners can sample special dishes, delicious indeed, which are prepared by the chefs of the participating restaurants and alpine huts. The specialities on offer, both well balanced and tailored to the needs of the athletes, are as energetic as bars or gels and do not weigh down.

What’s the difference between trail running and trekking?

In trail running you run and in trekking you walk, which means that the mechanics of the body and its interaction with the environment change.

Which one is the classic route that runs across the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park?

It’s the trail called “Alta Via delle Dolomiti n°1”, which leads from the Lago di Braies lake to the city of Belluno along a breathtakingly beautiful 130-kilometre-long route. It takes approximately 10 to 13 days to complete the entire itinerary and includes sleeping in alpine huts and hiking according to the sequence of the Dolomites.

Which plants can be found between rock crevices?

Only particularly specialised plants succeed in rooting between rocks, such as the rock rampion, edelweiss, pink cinquefoil, Hausmann’s rock jasmine, evergreen sedge or the blue-leaved saxifrage.

Which are the most fundamental rules for running and walking along alpine trails?

First: respect local culture and traditions, keeping in mind that you are a guest of the people living in the mountains. Second: respect nature in all its forms, at all times. Third: carry your waste back to the valley and never dispose of it in nature. Fourth: don't ever light fires. Fifth: don't pick flowers. Sixth: don’t disturb wildlife and avoid making loud noises.
