Cianté, balé y soghé sön munt - On the mountain pasture: singing, dancing and playing
At the time of the hay harvest on the mountain pastures in the Val Badia valley it was customary to celebrate the vëndres da munt - the mountain pasture fridays. Especially the younger people met there, danced, sang and joked with each other. Of course, there was always someone with an accordion to provide music.
In the evening, it was customary to stay overnight in the scofa (hut with a hayloft) and the boys went to visit the maidens. This was the right time for joking, laughing and playing.
Over the years, the joy of working together on the high mountain pastures led to the composition of numerous folk songs inspired by country life, known as cianties da munt - alpine songs.
