La cripele y le alté - The nativity scene and the altar

During the long autumn evenings, the male members of the family devoted themselves to carving the nativity figures, which were then set up in the Stüa - the living room – during the weeks before Christmas.
On Christmas Eve, the altar was also set up. In the days after the Christmas holidays, it was habit to visit the houses of the neighbours to admire the altars.
