A balcony suspended between sky and rock, in the wild heart of the Puez-Odle Nature Park.
The management of Rifugio Puez has been linked for over 80 years to the Costa family, representing one of the most continuous and meaningful stories among Dolomite mountain huts. Everything began in 1940, when the Italian Alpine Club entrusted the refuge to mountain guide Pietro Costa, who transformed it from a simple shelter into a place of genuine and heartfelt hospitality. From there, a true family tradition was born: Pietro managed it for decades, then his children, Oscar and Gemma Costa, took over. Today, the management has reached the third generation Since 2024, the refuge has been run by Denis Costa, Pietro’s grandson, together with his family. Surrounded by lunar-like plateaus and Dolomite walls that glow at sunset, Rifugio Puez offers a sense of pure and powerful isolation. Here, the silence is deep - broken only by the wind and the footsteps of hikers - while the gaze roams freely across a sea of peaks. An essential refuge, yet rich in atmosphere, where the mountains reveal themselves in their most authentic form. Open from 15th June until 30th September.
