The ski tour through the Mezdí Valley is one of the classics among the off-piste itineraries in the Dolomites. The tour runs from south to north and is characterized by a short crossing of the Sella-massif with only little difference in height, and by a steep and technical descent to Colfosco, through this narrow valley in the middle of the rocks.
Caution:
- The tour is classified as moderate, but it should not be underestimated, as it can be very demanding in case of wind or icy snow.
- It is recommended to be accompanied by a local alpine guide and to always check the conditions.

From Alta Badia, you can reach the start of the tour - the top of Pordoi Pass - by the Sella Ronda (the ski round trip around the Sella massif). On the Pordoi Pass you go up by cable car to Sass Pordoi (2950 m). A relatively easy descent leads to the fork Forcela Pordoi. Now you have to climb - first level, then increasing - until the Boé /Bamberger Hütte: snowshoes and skins facilitate the climb.
At the Boé/Bamberger Hütte you should definitely take some time to enjoy the 360° panorama and to look down into the Mezdí Valley: it is impressive! The descent begins with a narrow, difficult and steep part. Also challenging is the central part of the valley - especially in not so snowy winters - due to large rocks and deep depressions.
The last part is easy and pleasant, it runs along a forest path and crosses gentle meadows down to Colfosco.
