A time of year that is particularly rich in customs and rituals
The period from late autumn to early spring was probably the richest in rituals and customs. This was certainly linked to the daily routine of the peasant world. At this time of year, work outside, in the meadow, in the field and in the forest paused and one could meet with acquaintances and neighbours and develop new rituals.
