S. Cassian - Piz Sorega - Pralongiá - Corvara
Crossing from San Cassiano via Pralongià to Corvara
Overview: Extremely enjoyable excursion which, from Piz Sorega crosses the breathtaking meadows of Pralongià, renowned for their profusion of flowers.The panorama here is spectacular, stretching as it does from the Lavarela to the Lagazuoi, the Marmolada to the Grup dl Sela, from Puez to Pütia, and looking north, right up to the glaciers of the Central Alps on their border with Austria.
Starting point: San Cassiano (1524 m) - Piz Sorega lift
Itinerary: From Piz Sorega,set off south-west on trail nr.21/A, passing the Ütia Las Vegas Hut, in the direction of Pralongià. The road continues, more or less on the flat, through breathtaking high mountain meadows, and, after half an hour, you will reach the Ütia de Bioch Hut (2073 m). Now take the trail on the left, nr. 23, and go south, which will take you along the ridge and splendid meadows in flower to the Ütia Pralongià Hut (2135 m).
The view over the nearby Dolomites is superb. The descent to Corvara (1h 20min.) is undertaken by following trail nr. 25 west until, once you have passed the Ütia Punta Trieste Hut, you come to a junction. Continue on the right, trail nr. 24, which will bring you to Corvara.
