Ütia Franz Kostner - Crëp de Sela - Corvara
Hike from the Ütia Franz Kostner Hut to Crëp de Sela and on to Corvara
Overview: The Ütia Franz Kostner hut affords stunning views extending over the Tofane, Nuvolao, Pelmo, Civetta and Marmolada mountains. There are further surprises waiting for you on the long way down towards Corvara, such as the idyllic Lêch de Boè, the splendid mountainside woodland spread over Col da Giai, the engaging view from Crëp de Sela, and much more besides.
Starting point: Corvara (1555 m) - lifts Boè and Vallon
Itinerary: From Vallon chairlift station, go downhill towards the south-west into a dip then begin to climb to the Ütia Franz Kostner Hut (2540 m). Using the access road, go back to the junction and follow trail nr. 638 on the right which winds down the grassy slopes until reaching the vibrant green of Lêch de Boè. Crossing the meadows, come down to the east to the Crëp de Munt ridge (2198 m).
Trails 639 and 645 will lead you steeply down to the north-east (ski run) where you will see a clearing. Left here and on trail nr. 645, cross a wood before, heading north, coming to a junction in the Gran Val. Keeping left (nr. 645) along the wooded slopes of Col de Cedla, carry straight on, climbing up to the Col da Giai ridge. Further on, walk down to the ridge (1834 m) in front of Crëp de Sela (1867 m), which can be reached in just 5 minutes. From the ridge, descend by means of trail nr. 645 through the forest, going north-west , until coming to a junction, then steeply down on the right (north) to river Pisciadù in the Colfosco valley bottom. Here on the right, on a road cutting through, turn back eastwards to Corvara.
End point: Corvara – Boè cablecar car park (1555 m)
