Sas Pordoi - Piz Boè - Corvara

7,3 km
3,1 h

Trip from the Passo Pordoi to Corvara, and climbing Piz Boè
Overview: This hike across the Grup dl Sela is one of the most satisfying excursions in the Dolomites, with its unique views of mountainside
landscapes. From your vantage position on high, let your gaze wander over the distinctive lunar landscape of the
Grup dl Sela.
Starting point: Passo Pordoi - cable car Sas Pordoi
Itinerary: This is shortest and easiest way to climb Piz Boè, and therefore also the most popular. By taking the cable car which reaches Sas Pordoi (2950 m) in the space of just a few minutes, you can avoid the steep climb up to the Forcela Pordoi and reach Piz Boè comfortably in about an hour. From the cablecar station, descend until you reach the Forcela Pordoi. From here, continue for approximately 10min along the trail (nr. 627) that leads to the Ütia Boè Hut.
At the end of the gully which climbs up from Val Lasties, take the trail towards the right, in the direction of Piz Boè and, after a gentle climb, you will find yourself on a vast plateau at the foot of the peak.
Finally, having climbed the ridge, following the trail’s tracks and easy to manage rock masses, you will be at the summit of Piz Boè (3151 m) (1h 10min.) by the Ütia Capanna Fassa. Use trail nr. 638 to descend, crossing over the scree slopes on the mountain’s eastern ridge and rock slabs, in the direction of the Ütia Franz Kostner Hut. (40min.) brings
you to the steep, rubble- strewn Risa de Pigulerz.
Be particularly careful here, as in the event of snow, you will need an ice axe. Continue on the left once at the bottom of the gorge, still on trail nr. 638, beneath the sheer walls, always more or less at the same altitude, until you reach the Ütia Franz Kostner Hut. Only a few minutes, and you can be at the Valun cablecar. Should you wish to continue on foot, then keep to trail nr. 638, which leads firstly to the idyllic Lêch de Boè and then on to the Boè cable car station (2197 m), which will take you to Corvara.
End point: Corvara – Boè cable car (1555 m)
Refreshments: Ütia Pordoi, Ütia Capanna Fassa,
Ütia Franz Kostner
Type of trail: alpine trail, equipped in parts
